- 02We no longer use a traditional waitlist because we want every approved family to have a fair and thoughtful experience when choosing their kitten. Instead, once a pregnancy is confirmed, we open reservations for that specific litter and accept up to four deposits before the kittens are born. If the litter is larger, we may invite additional families to reserve a selection spot. This approach keeps families from feeling locked into a long list without knowing timing or availability, while still ensuring committed homes for our kittens. If a litter ends up smaller than expected, any deposits can be transferred to a future litter.
- 031. Submit an Application Families start by completing an application so we can learn about their home, preferences, and what they’re hoping for in a kitten. 2. Pre-Approval Approved applicants are added to our approved families list and become eligible to reserve a selection spot once a pregnancy is confirmed. We accept up to four deposits before kittens are born. If a litter is larger, we may open additional reservation spots. 3. Reservation Deposits A non-refundable $500 deposit reserves your place to choose from that specific litter. If a litter is smaller than expected, deposits can be transferred to a future litter. 4. Kitten Selection Families with reservation spots receive regular updates as the kittens grow so they can follow development and personalities. Around 4 to 6 weeks, when temperaments become clearer, Solstice personally contacts families to select their kitten. Most families already have a favorite in mind by this stage thanks to ongoing updates. 5. Final Payment & Go-Home Timeline The remaining balance is due prior to spay or neuter surgery at 12 weeks. After surgery and recovery, kittens are ready to join their families.
- 04Once your application is reviewed and approved, payment timing depends on whether you are reserving from an upcoming litter or an available kitten. Upcoming Litters Approved families who reserve a selection spot place a non-refundable $500 deposit when reserving for a confirmed litter. Around 4 to 6 weeks, families are personally contacted to choose their kitten. The remaining balance is due before spay or neuter surgery at 12 weeks. Payments toward the balance may be made over time or paid in full at any point prior to that deadline. Available Kittens If a kitten is already ready for their forever home, 50 percent of the total price is due to reserve. The remaining balance is due 48 hours before transport for out-of-state adoptions or at pickup for local families.

- 07Most pedigree cats are prone to certain genetic conditions specific to their breed. A reputable Maine Coon breeder will conduct thorough genetic testing on all breeding cats to screen for potential defects before breeding. In Maine Coons, the following genetic tests are essential: HCM (Feline Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy): A heart condition where the walls of the heart muscle thicken, causing the heart to enlarge. SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy): A genetic disease affecting Maine Coons that causes a progressive loss of motor neurons in the lower spinal cord, leading to muscle atrophy in the hind limbs, resulting in an unsteady gait and posture issues. PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease): An inherited condition that leads to the formation of multiple cysts in the kidneys. These cysts grow over time and can eventually cause kidney failure.
