Important clarification about the term “Ragcoon”

The term “ragcoon” is sometimes used online to describe kittens that share traits commonly associated with both Maine Coons and Ragdolls. However, “ragcoon” is not a recognized breed, and there is no established or ethical breeding standard under that name.

At Solstice Maine Coons, we believe transparency matters. This article exists to help families understand what people usually mean when they search for this term, how Maine Coons and Ragdolls differ as breeds, and why choosing a responsible breeder is so important.

When people search for “ragcoon kittens,” they are often looking for large, affectionate cats with gentle temperaments and striking features. These qualities can be found in well bred Maine Coons and Ragdolls individually, but they are not the result of a recognized hybrid breed. Ethical breeders focus on preserving breed standards, health testing, and temperament rather than creating novelty crosses.

Solstice Maine Coons is dedicated to raising purebred Maine Coon kittens with intention, health screening, and early socialization at the core of our program. We encourage families to take time learning about each breed, ask questions, and work with breeders who prioritize long term wellbeing over trends.

Ragcoon & Maine Coon Kittens Are on the Way at Solstice Cats!

We’re thrilled to announce that the Solstice Cats family is growing! After much anticipation, we have confirmed pregnancies in two of our stunning Maine Coon queens. Even more exciting is that our handsome stud, Thor, has successfully bred with our beautiful blue mink Ragdoll queen, Avie, marking the arrival of our very first Ragcoon litter!

Blue mink Ragdoll, Avie, was bred to Thor and we anticipate our first litter of Ragcoon kittens in early December.

The upcoming months will be filled with the sweet sounds of tiny paws and kitten purrs, and we couldn't be more over the moon. The combination of Thor's majestic Maine Coon genetics with Avie’s plush, silky Ragdoll charm promises an adorable and unique blend that we can’t wait to share with all of you.

Gemini is confirmed pregnant and expecting in late November.

We’re counting down the days and eagerly preparing for these precious little Ragcoon & Maine Coon Kittens to make their grand entrance into the world.
